A Safe Storage

Files are given a unique ID when uploading. They are stored under this unique ID. The original metadata of these files is stored in the database. It is therefore impossible to know the complete data of a file without the combination of the two.

Made in Europe! Our servers are located in a data center of DigitalOcean in Amsterdam or Frankfurt.

We always try to keep Sheprd alive. However, due to reasons beyond our control, problems with our cloud provider can occur. The uptime status of Sheprd can be found on status.sheprd.app.

Sheprd uses file compression technology, which will always be applied to a duplicate of the file. The original file remains unchanged.

We make daily backups of our database. They are kept both in-house and, on a server, separate from the Sheprd server. These backups make it possible to retrieve data that might have been lost.

Your files are stored in secured spaces in the cloud at DigitalOcean, our cloud provider. This means that files are never stored directly on the server, so you don’t have to worry if it crashes.
